The Final Prompt of the Blog Party is Top 5 Books of 2026! This had to be one of the hardest ones to choose, but here's what I decided to go with!

Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden

Picture
My Goodreads Review
Seeking Persephone was one book that I knew had to be on my Top 5 list! I had been seeing this advertised for a while, and that only seemed to pick up as there was talk of a movie/miniseries. Then a good friend of mine recommended it on Goodreads. That sealed the deal and I read it in just a matter of days, while simultaneously watching the film adaptation.
It was such a good book, I quickly read through the Christmas book after reading this (which I didn't realize at the time comes before the last book in the series... oops). I still hope to read the others I just haven't got to get around to that just yet.

Undeceived: From Amish Tradition to Christ’s Redemption by Eli Yoder

Eli's biography covers a large portion of his life, covering his early years where he was born and raised Amish, through the harder parts of his life, and then to redemption through Christ.
Eli tells some hard truths about what he faced, and it was a very eye-opening read. It's also a quick read written with short chapters.

You Only Live Twice: Poems by Hosanna Emily

Picture
My Goodreads Review
I have both a print copy of this book and an audio copy and was alternating back and forth. I used the audiobook a lot when I was doing my morning workout and it turned that into a time of worship and praise of God.
Hosanna's voice comes through very strongly in this book, and it's got such beautiful poetry within it's pages.
She also has a new poetry book that came out in August titled seven thousand in Israel.

The Christmas She Wanted by Rebekah Morris

I knew that I wanted to choose one of Rebekah's books for this day, but I had such a hard time choosing!
I've listened to several of her Christmas ones and her books are always such a delight. I really enjoyed this one in particular because of how the characters get their plans turned upside down, but it ends up being exactly what the mom had hoped for, in a way she never would have expected.
Her Woodbreak series (that I've gotten to so far) is really great as well.

The Hermit and the Rose by Ellie Hollows

Picture
The first book in the Redemption in Ireland series is perfect for fans of Beauty and the Beast inspired stories.
I enjoyed this one, which is followed by two more books, one of which came out earlier this year.
I don't really know what else to say, because I might spoil it if I do keep chatting.

My Goodreads Review
Is there anything in particular you would like to see on my blog in the future? I had big plans at one point, and well... life happened, but I have been thinking about what I should add next. Any suggestions?
Until the next time,
Heather

The prompt for today is "Family", because I've always counted that as a big blessing in my life. Most of these books are connected to nostalgia, but that's been my trend, so why stop now.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

This book was my first ever fantasy book that was given to me by a coworker of my mom, I was a voracious reader back then reading through books like they were my only source of nourishment.
The story immediately captured my attention, even though the copy I had sported a cover that might have been a bit scary for some youngsters. C.S. Lewis became a big part of my storytelling journey at that point, even though I didn't really know it at the time.
Of course, our connection today for family is the Pevensie children. Though things are not always perfect for them, they band together when it counts.

The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder

This was definitely one of the first book(s) that came to my mind when I thought of family. Little House on the Prairie was another book passed down in my family. Throughout my growing up years I read each of these books, and I adored each and every one of these titles.
I loved that we got to see Laura and Almanzo's family as they were children, and then the family they end up building together later on in their lives.
Also... has anyone seen that new copy of Little House on the prairie that is so pretty? I keep seeing it and thinking... hmmm... someday!

Catwings series by Ursula K. Le Guin

Yep, I chose another childhood favorite... and I suppose that I could have used this one yesterday, but again when I first thought of this book my mind went to family, both blood family and found family.
Four kittens are born in the busy city to a mother who "wishes she could fly away". This series chronicles the siblings' journey out into the world and the dangers they face. These books include not just illustrations... but color illustrations throughout each of the four books.

Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen

Ah Jane Austen. I've read a few Jane Austen books thus far and watched various film/mini-series adaptions of all of them (multiple times). This particular book was one that I buddy read with a dear friend of mine, which made this first reading of this book to be even more delightful.
Of course, my reason for choosing this one is no surprise, I'm sure because we know this story is about two sisters and the life that they face when the most unexpected of circumstances are thrown their way.
(Jane Austen related question... which one of her books should I read next?)

The Boxcar Children Graphic Novel by Meika Hashimoto (Adapter), Gertrude Chandler Warner (Author), & Giovanni Abeille (Illustrator)

Picture
Wrapping up today's post is a new take on what I call a childhood classic. I spotted this at our library when it came in and was immediately intrigued by it.
So, I took a quick stroll down memory lane and I so enjoyed it. Even though this book had the illustrations of a graphic novel present on each page, it was like I was rereading the chapter books of my childhood. It was really nice, and I found myself hoping to read another of these.
Of course, the reason for my choice of this book for today is the relationship of the siblings as they join forces to live on their own.
Remember that tomorrow is the last day of this blog party and you have the awesome chance to enter the giveaway AND get freebies each day. The hosts post hints on their blogs where you can find the freebies, so make sure you check there, as well as the blogs of my teammate, and if you have the time all of the lovely ladies that are taking part this year.
